Experience
Stan started his career as an apprentice in Felling Parks Department in Gateshead and built up a wealth of experience as well as gaining numerous qualifications throughout his career at Askham Bryan College in Yorkshire, the renowned Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh and Northumbria University.
An expert in garden design, arboriculture, nursery work and all aspects of amenity horticulture, he worked for many years in Newcastle Parks Department where he won gold and silver awards at RHS Tatton Park, BBC Gardeners World, and RHS Chelsea. His RHS Chelsea design depicting the Lindisfarne Gospels is now permanently displayed on Holy Island.
As a qualified teacher, he instructs beginners and experts alike from teenage groups to garden clubs. He also runs his own business specialising in arboricultural consultancy, tree care, grounds maintenance and soft landscaping.
He has had a long association with the BBC broadcasting gardening advice for the past 30 years on BBC Newcastle.
Along with his colleague Eddie Wardrobe, “Stan and Eddie” broadcast each Sunday on the Garden Mania programme and have long been hailed as the region’s favourite radio gardeners.

Experience
Liam has been involved with the horticultural and arboricultural industry for as long as he can remember as he used to go to work with Stan. Liam ran his own small garden maintenance business whilst completing his degree and masters. Upon completing his Masters, Liam decided to start Stan Timmins and Sons Ltd in partnership with Stan.
